What do you use our Boards for:I live by a Swiss lake, Greifensee, so I am exclusively hydroskating (or dockstarting or pump foiling, as people call it). I see a lot of future in this sport. I want to be freeriding the lake.
Where’s our favourite spot(s): Lake Greifensee, lago Maggiore, Heidsee.
Your craziest, best, funniest, or most adventurous ride ever: Plenty of fun moments with incredulous people who ask me if there is a motor somewhere on my foil… : ) One of the nicer moments must have been flying above reef sharks in the pacific last autumn.
Other hobbies than riding a board on liquid water: Snowboarding (I was a snowboard professional back in the day). I would say skateboarding, but it’s been a while. At 50+ skateboarding simply hurts too much. And I love vintage Ducatis.
Your goal this year: Always looking for the perfect run – working on fast turns and trying to become as smooth and effortless as possible
Tell us about a personal achievement: I have a signature dockstart I call the «kickstart» - I do a drop-in similar to skateboarding, kicking the board off the lip of the dock and jumping on it. Plus I am generally trying to ride without flailing arms. For momentum I double-time my frequency.
Your favorite quote: "per aspera ad astra"
Anything you want to let the world know:: I remember when I started snowboarding in the mid eighties: We had no clue, were all riding different setups, imagining different moves, making a fool out of ourselves on the slopes… but then gear got better in leaps, our style and our tricks went way beyond what anyone had imagined. Nobody knew how far the sport would go! In the beginning, whenever you saw a fellow rider, you would greet them. The vibe was very similar to what I am experiencing in dockstarting right now. It’s going to go a long way!
